Our Office Policies

Appointments for Oral Surgery

Appointments to see the doctor are usually made for mornings on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, & sometimes Saturdays. Consultations and surgery typically are completed on the same day, saving you travel and time. We are proud to get you in and out in under an hour (most of the time!)

Referrals

You do not need a referral from a general dentist to see Dr. Israelsen, however, any referring dentist should include a note pinpointing which teeth are to be treated. Dr. Israelsen will make a final determination as to which teeth need attention during your consultation.

X-rays

We require panoramic X-rays showing the wisdom teeth within the past 12 months. If you do not have a recent x-ray, we can take one during your office visit.

Information to Bring

Registration may take a few extra minutes. Please arrive 30 minutes before your surgical appointment. Bring all your insurance information, including exact addresses, social security numbers, etc. For patients under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian's signature is required. To speed things up, download and fill out forms before you come in. Download our forms from the oral surgery patient forms page.

IV Anesthesia

Most of our surgeries are performed under IV anesthesia while you sleep. This is a convenience for you and increases the efficiency of your surgery. Please be sure that someone drives you to the office, remains in the office during the procedure (usually about 1 hour), and is there to take you home after the surgery. It is vital that you have nothing to eat or drink for six (6) hours prior to your anesthetic. However, it is important that you take any regular medication (high blood pressure, antibiotics, etc) or medications provided by this office, using only a small sip of water, the day of surgery.
